Updated: Nov 10, 2024

On Saturday, October 19, the Light of the Future Foundation hosted an exciting Volleyball Tournament at RTP volleyball courts in Cary, North Carolina, to support the North Carolina Coastal Federation’s Ocean Cleanup efforts. This event brought together 72 enthusiastic participants, with nine registered teams eager to compete for a great cause.

The tournament kicked off at 4:30 PM after a short introduction from our CEO, Thaneshwaraan Magesh Kumar, about the importance of preserving our oceans and raising awareness for coastal cleanup efforts. The teams were filled with energy and excitement as they prepared for a series of competitive matches to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

The games became more intense as the day went on, with each team showing remarkable skill and teamwork. After several rounds of matches, the top teams advanced to the semi-finals, which drew a crowd of supporters and players eager to see who would come out on top.

The competition was fierce, but in the end, only three teams secured the winning positions:

First Place: Warriors (Captain: Ganesh Ampally)

Second Place: Worriers Elites (Captain: Dinesh Avvari)

Third Place: Strikers (Captain: Prakash Karunakaran)

The finals match for 3rd place between Strikers and He Ha were especially thrilling. Both teams played their hearts out in a close match that kept everyone on edge. Due to their valiant effort and skillful play, we would like to provide a special mention to Om Kumar and Lasya, the youth players of the He Ha team who competed against all-adult teams.

Throughout the tournament, participants and spectators enjoyed the food and drinks provided, taking advantage of the perfect weather to relax between matches and cheer on their favorite teams. The sense of community and camaraderie was palpable as everyone came together to support the sport and a worthy cause.

Participants and organizers gathered for a group photo following the medal ceremony, capturing the day's spirit. The event was more than just fun and games; thanks to everyone’s efforts and contributions, we raised $1,200 to donate to the North Carolina Coastal Federation, helping to fund their ocean cleanup initiatives. These funds will support ongoing efforts to preserve our coastline and protect marine life from pollution.

This tournament was a huge success, and it wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our team, participants, volunteers, and supporters. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished and can’t wait to continue hosting more events like this to support important causes.

Stay tuned for future events from the Light of the Future Foundation, and thank you for positively impacting our environment! Together, we’re creating a better future for our oceans and the planet.
