Updated: Oct 22, 2024

On Sunday, June 16, the Light of the Future Foundation hosted its first event: a 5K run for Autism Awareness at the New Hope Church Trailhead Park in Cary, North Carolina. Over 30 runners participated in the run, and we thank everyone who donated online and in person.

Left to right: 3rd, 1st, 2nd

The run started at 7:35 AM after a short speech from our CEO, Thaneshwaraan Magesh Kumar, and promptly after some pictures. Participants ran or walked the 4.5-kilometer (2.8-mile) track until they reached the start/finish line.

Winners:

First Place: Madhav Chopra

Second Place: Aleksandra Bondarenko

Third Place: Ashraf Mohamed

After all participants finished the 5-kilometer distance, they were invited back into the shelter for refreshments and the award ceremony. The winners received medals from our CEO and sponsor, Brightleafs Solutions.

Kumar Subramaniam, the founder of Brightleafs Solutions, talked about the Light of the Future Foundation afterward, appreciating our efforts over the course of two months in planning this event. Brightleafs Solutions matched all our donations—we thank them very much!

The run ended around 8:30 AM - and everyone left with some swag from the Autism Society of NC!

The next day, the Light of the Future Foundation team headed to Raleigh to the Autism Society of North Carolina office to deliver all funds raised! In collaboration with Brightleafs Solutions, the team raised $1,900.00 to donate to ASNC.

Be on the lookout for more events to support other causes. This event will be the start of many more great events to come. Thanks to everyone who participated and donated—your contributions will be invaluable in supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)!
